This morning I came across a nice page with great samples and tutorials of animated SVGs including icons, buttons, hover states, progress indicators etc.
Since 1999 SVG is a recommendation of the W3C to be used as a standard web graphic. Until now it did not really happen, at least not as a standard.
I guess this message from WordPress tells the story.
If I look back at big open source project that I was involved in with Nokia, SVG was usually the chosen graphic format in the beginning and later got dropped since the support for blur-glow-shine-reflect-shade-effects was missing from Scalable Vector Graphics. So we continue to create separate file for every element state like pressed state, selected state, hovered over state for each of our fancy assets.
Is the style of Modern UI for Win8 perhaps a new chance for SVG?
Is there someone who is using SVG as native graphic format in a project currently?
I’d love to hear some feedback!
